BEST VIRTUAL TEAM BUILDING ACTIVITIES

With the shift to remote work in 2020, teams were suddenly forced to get creative and rely on online tools to connect. Virtual team building was an emerging field and online material wasn't abundant, so Adventure Architects went to work developing a suite of events to solve this problem. As always our goal was to create something that we’d genuinely be excited to experience with our friends and colleagues. Not all team building events are created equal; this blog is our guide to creating something awesome, online. You can do it! 

Challenges for online team building: 

• It can be hard to find team events that can accommodate your group's unique needs. For example, matching specific people in groups; allowing others to join late; allowing some people to join with a cell phone if needed

• Some groups need a custom event built from ground up (ask us about the custom online events we’ve produced)

Experiences that anyone can do themselves: 

• Virtual warm up examples (best used at the beginning of a session):

  • Company trivia (a fun mix of company history and culture questions) 

  • Photo guessing game (guess who childhood photo game) 

  • Show and tell (a meaningful item from home + a story about that item) 

• Virtual energizer examples (best used as breaks between meetings or presentations):

  • Community Story (What’s something new and exciting to discuss?)

  • Guess Who (Have all participants spend a few minutes drawing someone else in the Zoom call, then have everyone guess who the subject is.)

  • Scavenger Hunt (Brainstorm a few items for participants to grab during the call and see who is able to find the most treasure.)
