ENDURANCE FOUND!

We’re buzzing from the news that Shackleton’s ship, The Endurance, has been found over a century after it sank during a historic expedition to Antarctica in 1914. In its time, it was said to be the world’s most challenging expedition and until today it was the most challenging shipwreck-search due to the constantly changing, thick layer of ice on the surface. Shackleton described this area as “the worst portion, of the worst sea, in the world”.

On Saturday March 5th, 2022, the wreck was found 3,008 meters below the surface in extraordinary condition, preserved by the cold waters of Antarctica.

In a nostalgic twist, the discovery was made on the 100th anniversary of Shackleton’s funeral; what a perfect ending to arguably the most notorious polar survival story of all time. If you’re unfamiliar with the story, this short video could help.
