PRE-DEPARTURE CHECKLIST
How exciting! If you’re here, you’re probably prepping for an exciting trip.
We hope this list is helpful for you. That being said, please do your own research beyond this list here. This is meant to be a resource, albeit non-comprehensive. Your own departure checklist will be unique to you and depend on where you are going and your own personal needs. Feel free to add in the comments anything that we may not have covered here
Make your packing list early and get a headstart
Most importantly pack. your passport and other important travel documents which may or may not include your greencard, visa, forms you may need to have filled out, covid test results, vaccination record, etc
Notify your bank that you are traveling internationally
Check passport expiration for validity
most destinations recommend six months validity
Often required: At least 3 months validity beyond your planned date of departure from the Schengen area
2 free pages for entry stamps
Check if Visa is needed for you
Make copies of passport and important travel credentials
Check prescription + order/bring extra
Check visiting countries’ regulations on your prescription
Some may need to be checked
Double check boarding passes // itinerary is correct
Check travel requirements for your destination
If your destination country requires certain vaccinations, visas, an arrival tax or a specific number of free pages in your passport, you want to know that before you leave. Some require a return flight to have been booked before entering the country.
Bring currency to exchange for Euros
if international, bring a credit card that doesn’t charge a foreign transaction fee (if you have one)
Schedule a ride to the airport, if necessary.
Cab and ridesharing services will often let you arrange a pickup in advance.
Download useful travel apps
Airline, rideshare, weather, etc
Check your luggage tag and identifiers
Check airline baggage weight and size regulations
Some international airlines have different requirements
Photograph the contents of luggage
Easier to file insurance claims if needed
Check all the pockets, for potentially banned items to avoid getting delayed by TSA/ inspection
research what kind of converter/plug you need for your electronics
Download // bring in-flight entertainment
Some of our team swears by using the supplement melatonin to help with jet lag

Ask neighbors to retrieve your packages and mail while your gone
Arrange someone to feed your pets/water your plants
Double check all doors are locked, stove is off and unplug any electronics that could start a fire
take out the trash
consider travel insurance / have a plan for what if something foes wrong
If international, figure out your phone plan for abroad
