MARIN SEARCH AND RESCUE TRAINING

Adventure Architects co-founders Carina and Noah have been busy preparing to apply to join Marin Search and Rescue Team.

Preparations began back in October with search and rescue prerequisite, CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) training.

This training is available to residents across the nation. Hosted by FEMA the program is designed to educate volunteers about disaster preparedness in their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. We graduated from the CERT program back in October.

Now, as the official Search and Rescue application window draws nearer, we have been attending prep meetings, training for the fitness test, and nervously laughing at the upcoming scheduled 2-3 hour lie detector test which is part of the interview process.

Official Search and Rescue interviews begin March 4th, 2019

And in classic Adventure Architects fashion, lunch was a freshly prepared outdoor lunch in the sun, among wildflowers and a beautiful view.

The recent downpouring of rain has been perfect for training, since most rescue missions tend to be in harsh weather conditions. Here we are, Wednesday, February 13th, getting soaked and chilled to the bone, wearing weighted packs as we charge up Mt. Tam behind Mill Valley.
